The title is short just like our trip was, but still awesome.
Even tho we only spent a little over a week in Peru, we were able to travel there a couple of days before Katie had to start working. This ended up being great because not only did it let us recover a little from the travel, but gave time for both of us to explore the Area around Lima.
Lima is the capitol of Peru, and has a population of over 10 million. Our hotel was in one of the sub-districts known as Miraflores, really more of touristy spot but that just made staying there all the more fun.
Now, when I say touristy area, I mean there are a lot of restaurants(and even fast food like McDonalds or Starbucks) casinos, and shopping areas within walking distance, and a lot of people speak English. Maybe not as many people speaking English as say, India, but it was very easy to communicate with everyone there. Especially with the staff at our hotel the Crowne Plaza Lima.
Our first day we spent mostly walking around the immediate area of the Plaza because there was simply so much to look at. Top it off with it being a pleasant 70 something degrees, it ended up feeling more like a vacation than a work assignment. We had coffee and lunch at Haitiand found one of Katie's new favorite spots in the world, Kennedy Park.(also known as Cat Park)
This just ended up being a great exploring day, the type that make us grateful for the opportunities we get.
The next day we had more time, so we walked a bit further to the Pacific cost and got some breathtaking views in the "Love park."
We walked down to a lighthouse as well, just enjoying more nice weather and the view.
We were lucky to get there early to just absorb the area before Katie had to work. I ended up spending the each day just walking around and eating whatever I thought looked good. A fantastic trip. The following weekend we got a little more time to do some stuff that i'm going to make into another post. So you have that to look forward to as well as a Vlog that will be coming up. Here's a teaser image.
More after the break

The center of the park
Local restaurants donate food for the cats every night
The more social ones stay out during the day for attention

Others just nap
