The lost India post

This one is a bit overdue, but better late than never.

Come take a peak at some of our travels
We were only supposed to be in India for a few weeks, not usually enough time to do anything of note. But we did manage to get a day to go exploring, including a museum, zoo, and even a private palace.

Small motor bikes are very common in India, because they are easy to park...

And can fit through traffic gaps

Our first stop was a museum that had an eclectic collection of artifacts. Ranging from fossils to Chinese artifacts and even dinosaurs.
Disclaimer: A lot of these pictures didn't come out the best(some have some bad glare), but I wanted to post them anyway.
Multiple floors with hundreds of cases

I believe the building used to be a church with it's high Gothic ceilings

Egyptian cat

We love us some old text

The tiny details here are incredible

How much can an elephant carry on it's back?

Apparently a hell of a lot of candles

My colors, and crazy craftsmanship

Tiny doll furniture in between priceless cups

The color doesn't come across in the pictures but it's insane how bright they are with their age

Bet you can't guess what is in his mouth

Baby head
Seriously, baby head. I know the lore is supposed to be all safe in the mouth or something but...come on.

The dog found his ball, don't take it from him

Some China
Apparently authentic and acquired during war, at least that is what the card said

There were also some ornate instruments here

Couldn't tell you the name of them, but they are gorgeous

The carving detail....

And size were some to remember

Easily one of the coolest items we saw that day.

Very elegant

International map

Oh and dinosaurs

Some huge mastodon tusks

Although I question the validity of them

In the basement they had a full skeleton of a blue whale. Kinda nuts.

Even the outside had some cool artwork along the boarder

And leave it to us to find the cat sleeping

He wasn't interested in us that day

Tiny chipmunk friend tho

The area of the museum was really a big park, where a lot of families came to play

The grounds work was super clean

You can see how well kept it is

One thing about India....There are just monkeys hanging out all over the place

We were walking to the zoo area, and this guy was just on the side of the street

The bridge to the zoo

Didn't get any good pictures in the zoo, there were mostly birds there. This exhibit tho had deer. Pretty exotic.

After the park we were a short car ride from our final stop of the day

A palace

Known as the Laxmi Vilas Palace
So, this massive home of the Royal family of Baroda (now known as Vadodara) and is still held by the family, but it is open to tours each day

They claim it to be the largest private residence in the world

The architecture is the true king here

Just some cool looks at the building

The palace also has it's own golf course, kept pristine

Concerts are also held in this area

Kooks listening to the audio tour

We packed a lot of travel into that day in India, definitely got the flavor of the area and saw lots of priceless stuff.

More info coming soon as to what we've been up to with our return visit to Russia. So stay tuned.
