Temperatures are getting colder
More after the break:
Running down how Thursday went, Katie went into the plant at about 6am. She worked the entire day till 5pm. After work we had dinner with the project chief (Chinese food if you were wondering), and worked our way over the river into Toledo proper.
Probably about twenty minutes from our hotel
This week had two huge movies premiering. Christopher Nolan's Interstellar and Disney's Big Hero 6. These two had been on our radar for a while, especially Big Hero 6. Seeing as we had literally hours to kill, why not go back to back with midnight premiers of both of them.
Deciding that the longer and more intense Interstellar was best suited for the fully conscious, we got tickets for it at 8pm and Big Hero 6 at midnight.
Here is my one paragraph, spoiler free review of Interstellar:
Nolan's Interstellar deals with the massive rules of space travel, quantum mechanics, and relativity. Building drama and tension off of those key factors, Interstellar's strongest aspects are its periods of prolonged tension. Visually, it tackles things that just haven't been done before and does a good job of it. However, the story can get a bit too sappy and wont surprise everyone the way it wants to. Clocking in just under three hours, it will also feel very long to many. Overall, Interstellar is worth seeing if you want a movie showcasing some hard science fiction involving space travel. I'd give it 4 out of 5 stars.
Emotionally drained from such a long and tense movie, Katie and I grabbed some pizza, got our free refill on our drink, and settled into our next theater for part two of the double feature. Being pretty tired at this point, we were glad we picked this order. We were ready for a more colorful and cheerful movie.
We got so much more than that:
This is one of the best animated films of not only this year, but of the last couple years. Big Hero 6 has an art design and direction that makes you want to go back and watch it again just to try and absorb all of the grander. Its humorous and incredibly engaging characters will have you laughing and quoting long after the film is over. Despite having a story that is fairly easy to predict, Disney packs a lot of heartfelt moments in. Sequences that will tug on your emotions in the way only Disney can. Had an absolute blast watching this and look forward to seeing it again. It gets a 4.75 out of 5 stars from me.
So that was our Thursday, getting out of the theater around 2am (technically Friday by that point) and heading back to the hotel for sleep. Now we are on night shift time where lunch is at midnight and breakfast is dinner. Confusing we know.
Thanks for reading this little update. Vlog coming shortly along with full, long winded reviews of each movie on the sister (brother?) blog dedicated to just that kind of thing. Let me know what you all think and if you enjoyed it. Till next time, *fist bump*
