Milazzo Sicily

Things have been quiet on the blog but it's about to pick up.
Let's catch up and talk about Italy.

More beaches and water after the break

Word came down that Katie would be going back to Italy and I got to go with her this time. Instead of being mainland it'd actually be the big island Italy is kicking, Sicily.

I always felt like Sicily would be really painful to kick

And if you look closely at that island, there is a little bit sticking out of the top. That is Milazzo, about a 2 hour drive from the airport of Catania, While it certainly was a lot of travel time to get there, goodness it was worth it once we saw the view from our hotel, the Albergo Esperia.

This was taken from our room the first night there.

Honestly, we've stayed in some nice places, but this is by far the most scenic hotel we've had in our travels. And just a short walk to the beach.

Now, something we weren't used to was this beach didn't have any sand. only rocks. This made the most amazing sound when the waves came in and out, moving thousands of tiny rocks on top of one another each time. A really cool experience.

After Katie had worked for a week or so, she was able to get some time off and we took advantage and drove to the very tip of of our Island called the "Piscina di Venere" where a natural pool is.

Fun Fact: Milazzo is a port city, those lines in the water are all boat and ferries that come in

It was only about a 30 minute drive there and it'd be a little hike down to the pool, but the weather just decided to be great that day.

We weren't really sure what to expect when we headed up there, it could have been busy, cold, windy, or even not worth it. Luckily after venturing down the stairs it blew away even our highest expectations.

The volcanic rock was amazing

See, the people of the area seem to be under the impression their water is too cold to swim in right now, so almost no one was there. Trust me when I say, the water wasn't even a little bit cold and they should be in the water constantly.

Splish splash....but seriously it was nice

Swimming was great and all, but we had more fun just exploring and climbing around.  Just looking around the rocks, and saying "let's go over  there", just an absolute blast and we were able to catch some fun pictures.

Not to be outdone....

One of the best days of our trip and man it just puts a smile on my face thinking about.

A big sorry for not getting this out sooner, but our net wasn't very good in Milazzo and it just wasn't  feasible. But that means I have several posts just banked up and in the hopper, so those will be coming out soon.

Here's a tease of the next one in Sicily:

  1. Once again color me green. I'm very happy that there was time for you both to go sight seeing and the weather cooperated. I'm sure there are many more pics that did not make this cut. Look forward to seeing more and of course seeing you two
