However day 2 would not go as smoothly as our first day in Greece. This was due entirely to bad weather.
With another early rise, we were quite excited to be getting on the boat and taking a few hour boat ride to the first island of Hydra. Hydra is an island off the cost of Greece that doesn't have any cars on it, just mules and horses. Very quaint and interesting.
It seemed that the weather did not want to corporate with us though. As soon as we shoved off, the rain and wind picked up. Waves started to get bigger and bigger. Our boat, not small by any means, was starting to get tossed and turned in the ever increasing waves. Katie ended up sleeping through most of it, but nearly everyone else on board started to get a bit seasick. After a couple of hours on the open water, we made it to the port of Poros, which is protected from the open sea by a canal. By this time the weather was starting to clear, and even turn beautiful. But the Port Authority had already called for no traffic into or out of Hydra.
Completely understandable and nothing you can really get mad about. The weather had turned poor and the powers that be deemed we could not make one of our islands.
That didn't mean we weren't going to make the most of what we did have: Poros.
The last of the storm
Pretty cool clock tower

Another Wall-E and Eve photo from the tower
Even found this...
We were told we only had about one hour and fifteen minutes on Poros, then we should be back on the boat to push off and eat on our way to the next island. Plans changed though and we ended up just eating docked in Poros then making about an hour and a half ride over to Aegina.
Leaving Poros

By this time we were back to incredible, scenic Greece
We liked this lighthouse on the rocks
Aegina did not disappoint when we finally got there. One of the island's biggest exports were pistachios. So many places served them in several ways. We grabbed some pistachio ice-cream and started to explore.
The architecture of this small fishing community was truly marvelous.
We also made a few new friends while wondering the small streets of Aegina.
It was a wonderful and relaxing day. The boat had food, singing, and dancing. It really was party central and a lot of fun. Truly we had seen things we had not before and enjoyed ourselves while doing it. Even though the day started off with bad weather and one less island, we could not of been happier with the outcome of the our second day in Greece.
