But of course that wasn't all that we did
Fate had declared our last day in Greece would be a bit of a rainy one. But that didn't stop us from walking the streets of Athens, grabbing some nice hot drinks and just people watching for a while.
After our drinks we walked to the backside of the Acropolis known as the Agora of Athens.
The temple of Hephaistos stands largely intact just a stones throw from the Acropolis.
I continue to be impressed by the original sculpting work at the top
Shot from the temple facing the Acropolis, overlooking the Agora
The remains of what was once a great statue of Emperor Hadrian. Katie tells me he built a wall or something
Below are full sections of flooring recovered from digs. The really awesome part about these is that you can still see their original color.
Really cool pieces
After exploring the Agora, we kept walking the streets of Athens, but it was raining a bit too much to just stay out and about. So we found a nice cafe, called the Filistron.
All of the food we had there was exceptional, especially our dessert
That ended up being the perfect little end to our trip to Greece. Just sitting street level with a view of the Acropolis. Not much happened the rest of the day, the flight back to Turkey was only about an hour and we cashed in some of our Platinum points from Holiday Inn to stay the night in Istanbul.
We had so much fun in Greece, we will absolutely be going back there sometime in the future. Next time we'd like to go with some beach weather. I have a lot more pictures that I've taken that I plan on just putting in their own post for anyone who might be interested. Probably be some repeats from before but that way all the pictures are in one spot.
Hope you enjoyed the week of Greece, I will also have a post for Christmas up shortly along with a special thank you to everyone reading.
Till next time, peace.
I just really like this picture
